Biography

From Owhelogbo to International Leadership

Dr. Austin Avuigwerie Orette is a Nigerian-American Family Medicine Physician born in Owhelogbo, Isoko North LGA, Delta State. With over four decades of medical experience, he brings rare professional depth and principled conviction to public life.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine in 1985, completing his Family Medicine Residency at Memorial Hermann Health System, Houston, Texas between 1992 and 1995. He is also a frequent contributor of opinion pieces on Nigerian politics, national security, democracy, and ethnic relations.

Now a candidate for the Delta South Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly Elections, Dr. Orette describes his race as "a battle of ideas" — running not to accumulate wealth or power, but to serve the people of Delta South with intellectual rigour and moral clarity.

The Power of Ideas Over Patronage

Dr. Orette believes Nigeria's challenges stem not from a lack of resources, but from a shortage of innovative leadership. He sees the people as the solution — not the problem.

Competence-Led Governance

Elected officials must bring technical knowledge and evidence-based thinking. "If not me, who? If not now, when?"

Citizens as Solutions

"The leadership in Nigeria has always seen the people as the problem. I see the people as solutions. If equipped, they will solve the problems."

Accountability Above All

Public office is a call to service, not an avenue for wealth. Every senator must be answerable to the people who elected them.
